How to Apply

Checklist of items which are needed for Admission

1. Send to the UK Graduate School:

   1. Graduate School Application Form and Fee. The form is available on line at the Graduate School web site. At this site you can:
      • Apply on line
      • Print and mail the form
      • Request a paper application form through the mail.

      We recommend on line application. If you have problems with the web site, you can contact the Graduate School by phone at 859-257-4613.

   2. You will need two official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work. Send one copy to the Graduate School, and one copy to the Director of Graduate Studies at the School of Music (see address below).
   3. GRE scores (verbal, quantitative, analytical) For more information, contact The Educational Testing Service.

      • Work Experiences (locations, dates, teaching, and other professional experiences)
      • Presentations / Recitals / Publications / Clinics (include locations and dates)
   2. Personal Objective Essay (about 150 words). Please express your motivation for seeking this degree from the University of Kentucky and how this degree fits into your goals for the future.
   3. Three letters of recommendation
   4. Take Graduate Entrance exam in music.
   5. Official transcripts—see I. B. above
   6. Repertoire List (for those seeking a performance degree)
   7. Audition (for those seeking a performance degree) Contact the faculty of your performing area to schedule an audition.
   8. Representative papers or compositions written (for those seeking a degree in theory, musicology, or composition)
