Both accomplished and virtuosic soloists in their own right, Greg Beyer and Erin Lesser work closely with young composers to develop unique and engaging 21st century repertoire. Their programs are varied and highly engaging, ranging from extensive multi-media and technology-driven works to pieces that call for a variety of world music instruments in combination with folksong-like vocals and narratives. Beyer is an expert performer of the Afro-Brazilian berimbau, and incorporates this instrument into DUE EAST shows.

John Nardolillo conducts the orchestra in a performance of Mahler's Symphony No.1, 'Titan.' Also included will be concertos TBA performed by this year's UK Concerto Competition.

Berea College Bluegrass Ensemble

The Berea College Bluegrass Ensemble was founded in the fall of 1999 to give Berea College students with background or potential in bluegrass music an opportunity to play in a “working” bluegrass band with weekly rehearsals, performances and travel. The band’s recent tour of Japan marked its second visit there, the first being in 2006. The Bluegrass Ensemble also toured Ireland in 2004 and 2007.

The UK Choirs Collage concerts have become on of the biggest annual events in the history of the UK School of Music and a much anticipated holiday tradition for the residents of Central Kentucky. Featuring all 200 UK Choir members, the Lexington Singers Children's Choir, and a host of guest ensembles and soloists, Collage is one of the highlights of the Lexington Christmas season. Presented in the spectacular Concert Hall of the Singletary Center, Collage is a fast paced, visually stunning concert that is not to be missed.

UK's official traditional music ensemble, the Ramblers, Will Bacon (banjo and kazoo), Kevin Kehrberg (bass, guitar), Jeff Keith (mandolin and guitar), and Nikos Pappas (fiddle) recently released their second recording, Commonwealth based on traditional music of Kentucky and in 2008 the band was a finalist in the string band competition at Clifftop Old Time String Band Festival.

A world renown trombone quartet featured numerous times at the International Trombone Festival and other prestigious national workshops around the world. The group plays all styles from Latin, to classical, to jazz. They are known for providing a very entertaining concert as well as virtuosic performing.
